The receipt printers we use are thermal printers meaning rather than actual ink being printed onto the docket, heat is applied to the specially designed receipt paper which causes it to turn black in precise positions allowing text and barcodes to be imprinted on the paper. So if the text is faint, it's usually a matter of settings rather than hardware.
Find the receipt printer model and its corresponding user manual which will walk you through how to configure the density. Typically the process will more or less go as follows:
- switch the receipt printer off
- press and hold the feed paper button
- while still holding the paper feed button, turn it back on, it should print a guide for mode selection something like this:
utilise the user manual to interpret the various menus (this will vary a lot depending on the model/user manual)
you will usually press the paper feed button a number of times to select the various options (i.e for option 2, press the feed paper button twice)
