Introduction

This Quick Reference Guide (QRG) details how to set up the March Guard Insurance integration, as well as how to process March Guard Insurance sales via the Till.

Default Setting Field

Within Admin Default Settings General, you will find a Default Setting named March Guard URL:

This setting allows retailers to choose whether the quote is being requested from March Guard’s ‘Live’ or ‘Test’ system.

By default, this field is set as ‘Live’.

Location Management Fields

Found within Admin > Location Management > Edit, are 3 three fields relating to March Guard.

The first 2 fields need to be populated with the March Guard Store ID and March Guard Store PIN as provided by March Guard.

The March guard store url* field relates back to the March Guard URL Default Setting (see section above). By default this field will inherit the ‘Live’ or ‘Test’ option set. Changing this here will override that option for this specific Location only.

‘Insurance’ Product Type

Within Admin > Products and Categories > Create a Product, you will find the Product Type* dropdown field. Within the list is an option named ‘Insurance.’ This should be selected.

An Insurance Product and Product Option need to be created for March Guard to work. Please note that only one Insurance Product and Product Option can be created.

A new ‘March Guard’ option will be visible on the Till after setting up the Location Management fields and Insurance Product (Till > Other Options > March Guard Insurance):

Category Drop Down Option

Within Admin > Products and Categories > Edit a category, you will find a new option.

The new dropdown list determines the insurance type of the products contained in the category. If set to ‘Other’ the items in the category will not be eligible for insurance.

If a March Guard Type is set against a parent category, any sub categories will inherit the same type unless a different type is set directly against the sub category.

Processing a March Guard Sale

To process a March Guard insurance sale:

Open the Till
Select a customer
Add an item to the basket that is in a March Guard category or subcategory (e.g. a category set up as Jewellery/Watch)
Select Other Options > March Guard Insurance – the new March Guard Insurance Quote page will open:

Insured value: the total of all items included in the quote
IPT: Insurance Premium Tax (provided by March Guard)
Term: determines the insurance period in years – can be set to 1 or 3
Premium: insurance premium (provided by March Guard)
Insurance Total: IPT + Premium (provided by March Guard)
Description: item name
Type: March Guard insurance type as defined against the category
Cost: store price ➢ Value: sale price (store price minus any discounts)
Include: determines whether the item is to be included in the quote
Add to basket: adds the quote to the basket
Update quote: updates the quote if changes are made (e.g. changing Term from 1 to 3)
Cancel: closes the quote page

When Add to Basket is selected the insurance item will be added to the basket with the ‘Insurance Total’ value:

Selecting the ‘March Guard Insurance’ option again at this point will allow you to edit and update the quote.

After completing the sale a March Guard Insurance receipt will be printed along with the standard itemised receipt.
